Way-out-there Home Remodel: Office Edition

Welcome to my party! I heard so much about the Ultimate Blog Party last year, but I missed out on getting to participate. I was thrilled to hear that there would be a 2nd annual version this year and immediately decided to have a lil' get together.

The only problem? Umm...the house isn't exactly what you'd call company ready. We're in the midst of our own little version of "Way-out-there Home Remodel: Office Edition". And when you're doing all the crazy, extreme makeover stuff that "Way-out-there Home Remodel" requires, the house gets a little messy. OK, a lot messy.

To begin, I'd like to give you a "before" tour of our home office.

In this room we (meaning I): blog, sew, scrapbook, plan preschool lessons, take care of household bookkeeping, oh, and iron.

And, Honey uses this room as his office...when he's not in his car. Because Honey's job requires him to spend a lot of time in his car. But he does return home every night and uses this space for his business.

I know it seems like nothing short of a miracle that we accomplish so much in this mess. And really, what's even more miraculous is the fact that I have no anxiety showing you, blogland, pictures of my deepest darkest secret. But there it is in all its organized chaos glory.

So a couple of weeks ago, I decided that in this year of tying up loose ends, the office would have to be tackled. We just could not function one more minute in this space. It was sucking the life out of me. The preparations began in earnest, and this weekend I am going to share the journey with you. It's going to be tons of fun. There will be cleaning, sorting, trashing, painting, sewing, and furniture construction. Lots of work that in the end will be totally worth it.

So, pull up a chair, or better yet, grab a screwdriver, mop, or paintbrush and jump right in. Join me at my homepage and watch the transformation. We'll have the real party when all the work is done.

Enjoyed the party and I love your nicknames for your twins.

Oh, am I jealous. In our next home I have to have an art/sewing/craft/reading/etc. room. It kinda puts you off being creative when you are hauling it all out and then hauling it all back in, right?
Hope you're enjoying the party. And I hope you'll stop in if you get the chance.

Funny, my husband was just away for a week on business, and I tackled cleaning out our own "black hole". I'm still not done. Come visit my blog and you can read about it. Oh, I have three munchkins also, one singleton (7) and boy/girl twins (5). Happy blog partying!

Oh! I would love to jump in and help paint =)
I also blog, sew, scrapbook (well, not so much of this but I try to do a little bit every so often!) and plan lessons. In addition to that I knit, read, and cross stitch!
Good luck with the office make-over! I bet it will look simply fabulous when you are done =)

I bought my first home all by my lonesome a year ago and I'm working slowly but surely to redecorate, organize and eventually remodel, so I'm totally amped to see what you're going to do with your space! Hope you'll stop by to say hello when you get a chance. I'll be back to read more when I'm done party-hopping!

Good luck with the room! I love to organize but can never find the time, lol.

Wow - how exciting! I found you through the blog party and have to say I always love getting organized. Certainly a process, but it's so rewarding. The color you picked is about the same of my bedroom - beautiful!

Wow, I was completely distracted by your link to the Breast Cancer site. I go on everyday, both from home and from the office and I have asked all my friends and relatives to do it. I have been thinking about putting something on my blog but I kept putting it off. When I saw your button something clicked. I stopped party hopping and added it to mine.
Thanks.
Oh, and I love the colour you chose for your office!
Visit if you have time!

Ahh I love the remodel (mostly because I'm nosy about other people's houses) and the walls are just the perfect level of funk now. They are just slightly more blue than the walls of my bedroom. The bookcase is amazingly beautiful! Keep at it - you will win in the end.

Hey...who said you could post photos of my office?? LOL Okay, so it's not mine, but mine's just about as disorganized! Maybe'll you'll motivate me to do something with my office. :)

Alright a cleaning party. Is this where we clean your home, then we clean another until we end up at my home. GREAT. Lets get cleaning. It is sooooo much easier to clean your home then my own. It is fun to do something nice for another.
Hand me another dust rag. there.
looking good.
paint, wait need to lay this down to protect the windows. OK good to go.
I hear the phone. Everyone search for the phone. How did it get there?
Do you not think it is time to throw "this" out?
Ha, how about we trade one box of your junk for one box of my junk? no?
OK.

Later, got to feed the kids.
