InstaSpringBreak Day 8

The Nanny got married today.  The girls weren't in the wedding, but they got to carry the train of Nanny's dress around all day.  They were in heaven.  It was their job.  They also ran little errands and took important things to important people and delivered important messages to other important people.  And when they weren't busy with all of that, they played on their iPods.

They were really sweet and helpful and cute.

And The Nanny is married!

InstaSpringBreak Day 7

Do these shoes look like they are two different colors?

Yes?

That's because they are.

I'm helping with a wedding this weekend and I wanted some new shoes to wear.  I've never had shoes this tall before.  They are suprisingly comfy.  They make me really tall.  Bubba hates them.

When we are both barefooted, he is almost as tall as me.  I still have him by this much. When I wear these shoes, I am significantly taller than him.

I tried them on at home for the girls.  Their eyes got really big when they saw the height of the heels.  "I like your new shoes, Mommy." Mary TuTu gushed.  What is it with little girls and high heeled shoes?  I remember loving my mom's high heels when I was 8.

Brooke took her little sweaty foot and stepped on the top of mine and it left a dark mark across the top of the shoe.  Really dark.  And it didn't fade.  It was like the sweat changed the color of the leather.

And then I noticed that the lotion on my hands left dark marks on the straps where I touched them to take them off. I had one light shoe and one smudged shoe.

I ended up rubbing lotion all over both shoes so they would match.  It was like oiling a baseball glove in the spring.

I still like them, but I don't love them like I did when I bought them.  I like that they match...they would have smudged every time I wore them...I liked the original color better.

Whatever...
The shoes have distracted me from my bracket that is quickly falling apart.

InstaSpringBreak Day 6

Mema's surgery went well.  The doctor said that her skinny knee was much easier to work on than the fat ones.

Good to know.

The weather this week has been beautiful.  It's the kind of weather that makes you take back all the bad things you've ever said about the weather.

The girls have been showing how grown up they are by walking around the corner and playing at the park.  They have to walk home and check in at certain times.  They think they are so big.

We made it back home and spent some time watching the March Madness.

Some of my March Madness observations:

1. The neon version of your school colors are not my favorite.

2.  Really?  A #16 seed has NEVER beaten a #1 seed?  NEVER?

3.  Someone in Kentucky needs to help a brother out and let that really good player know that he has a little problem called a uni brow.

4.  I am very glad we are back to calling it March Madness.  "The Road to the Final Four" wasn't doing it for me.

5.  Next year one of the sites for the second and third round is Austin.  We are SO going.  It's on the calendar.

InstaSpringBreak Day 5

Today we went back home and visited my Mema and Popa.  Partly because it had been too long since we'd gone for a visit, partly because it was Spring Break and we needed SOME kind of road trip (no matter how small), but mostly because we wanted to see Mema before tomorrow.

Tomorrow, she's going to have knee replacement surgery.  Today, we introduced her to Bubba's Beats and Honey's iPhone.  In this picture she was watching the video of Bubba's Christmas concert.

She's the coolest Mema ever.

It was also Uncle Bubba's birthday.  We met at the Dairy Queen (Mema's choice) for lunch and then had homemade chocolate cake for dessert.  Uncle Bubba likes it when the cake falls in the middle, making it more the consistency of a brownie instead of cake.  So, when Mom makes his cakes, she slams the oven door about halfway through the baking process.  It makes your heart skip a beat if you're not expecting it, but that's the way Uncle Bubba rolls.

InstaSpringBreak Day 4

Diabetes + sore teeth = lots of insulin

Brooke's teeth are still tender from the new hardware.  She wants to eat soft, mushy stuff...which means lots of pasta, potatoes, and, of course, milk shakes.  We are getting some scrambled eggs and peanut butter in there to cover the protein.

This is the picture I took right before I gave her the biggest bolus ever. She had a milk shake and some french fries for lunch.  I was a little nervous about it, so I dual waved it.  I guess it worked because she didn't go low and 3 hours later she was 146.

We're going to try baked spaghetti for supper.

The girls and I all had hair appointments this morning.  Then it was day two of dress shopping.

Yes, two days to find a dress that both the eight year olds and mom liked.

I can't wait for prom.

Since dress shopping was so much fun, I decided to round out the day with a trip to Walmart.  It was a relatively quick trip and I actually got a good basket.  Such a good basket that I wished I had a neon orange trail marker to tie around the handle so I could find it next time.

We did come home with these:

so, it's all good.

InstaSpringBreak Day 3

This picture is so tiny you probably can't see it (why are my pictures so tiny?), but Bubba and Brooke got their appliances put on their teeth.  Bubba just has an expander for right now, but Brooke has sparkles on her top teeth.

They chose breakfast at Chic-fil-a as their "last meal" and so far the Motrin seems to be keeping the pain to a minimum.

Now we just have to remember to turn that key inside their mouths every night before bed.  Don't worry, I already have another alarm set.

InstaSpringBreak Day 2

Because we aren't ones to waste a clean house, we had some friends over to watch the NCAA tournament selection show.  We had pizza and frozen cobbler...easy like Sunday morning...just the way I like it!

InstaSpringBreak Day 1

Saturday morning we got up and spent a couple of hours picking up/cleaning the house...because... the bestie and her family were in town and they came over for a visit that afternoon!  I hadn't seen Shelly in almost 2 years.  It was TIME.  It was also the perfect way to kick off Spring Break.
