What's wrong with this picture?

If you said: "The oven is missing", you'd be right. We sold our oven Saturday on Craigslist. Honey says that I'd sell anything that isn't nailed down on Craigslist.

That's not entirely true.

If the nails come up pretty easily, I'd be OK with posting it.

In my defense, the oven sold a little faster than I thought it would. I hadn't had great luck selling our old washer and dryer a couple of weeks ago, so I didn't have big expectations for the oven.

But now . . . we're in an interesting position. We have no oven. So, I'll be improvising in the cooking realm this week. Thank goodness I hadn't done our grocery shopping yet. We hope to have the oven replacement here by Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Yes, we're getting a new oven. Yes, I know we just got a new washer and dryer. Don't judge. Sometimes you just gotta' go with the flow.

Last week my Facebook friends helped me come up with some great ideas for dinner. I was all ready to try some new recipes, except, most of them involve baking in an oven or cooking on a stove top. So I had to make some minor adjustments to the menu. It now includes several meals to be cooked on the grill or in the microwave.

I'm also trying to clean out our pantry and freezer, so I also needed to plan meals that went with the stuff we already had. It seems I like a meal planning challenge.

So, here is the edited version of our meal plan, the one I went with after we sold the oven, the plan that will help clean out the freezer, the one I shopped for today.

Hot Dogs

Hobo Dinners

Grilled Chicken Salad

Grilled Salmon

Roasted Chicken Legs

Tacos

Chicken Enchiladas

Mexican Casserole

Baked Spaghetti

Cracker Steak

What's on your menu this week?

it's like a reality show. you totally should have called HGTV and seen if they were up for it! In this economy, certainly they are struggling to find cheap/but entertaining shows... You could have even network shopped and pitched FOOD network and TLC...

(how in the world did I miss the face book recipe roundup?)

Do you have a roaster oven? You can use that like an oven too. Once when our oven was out of commission, we tried that. You just have to watch it because things like cinnamon rolls cook faster in it.

Our menu this week of 5 baseball games and 1 practice (I know it it crazy!): coconut/popcorn shrimp, BBQ chicken, quesadillas, spaghetti, and pizza

So, did you get a matching oven in red to go with the washer and dryer? :) Hope all goes well with feeding the fam this week without an oven. Do you need Domino's #? :)
