Lazy Days

A myth...the stuff of legends...

I'm here as a witness to say that, yes, they do exist. Here in the world outside of lemonade commercials and magazine advertisements, it is possible to experience a lazy day or two of summer.

We had a breakfast picnic one morning. It is delightfully cool and shady in the mornings in our backyard, and Uncle Bubba keeps it mowed and looking nice. It's the perfect spot for a muffin and a cup of coffee or milk.

Brooke has an ear infection. Rather, we're treating her for an ear infection. It could just be swimmers' ear, and the doctor wasn't certain, but he thought one of her ear drums looked "perforated". Not "punctured" or "burst", "perforated". Which I'm told is slightly better than...say..."a hole in your eardrum". So we're staying out of the pool for a few days.
Actually the doctor said that we could get in the pool, we just had to keep Brooke from completely submerging her head in the water.
Well, that's a deal breaker for me. Brooke is a little fish, and fish like their heads completely under water at all times. (Hmm...how would she have ever gotten swimmers' ear?) So we're just staying out of it and opting for another form of water fun, jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler.

I'm not sure if you can see the water in those pictures, but it's there. And they love it. And my water bill will be horrendous this month. But Brooke's head is not submerged at all whatsoever. So we're good.
