I know, I know, but it had to be done

For those of you who know me, you better sit down, you may be shocked to hear my next statement. I mowed the back yard today. All by myself. . .alone. . .no help.

OK, it wasn't actually the entire back yard. Only the half that there is grass growing on. OK, not the entire half of the yard that there is grass on, just the part that has been planted for a couple of years. I didn't touch the sod that we just layed a few days ago.

Now, the advice I have gotten is "Don't ever start, you'll never get your husband to do it again." But I have faith in Honey. He's not that way. Actually, I decided to learn how to use the mower beause Honey is gone so much in the summer. I want to start caring for the back yard so we will actually have a backyard for the kids (and therin, me) to enjoy. To have this yard, you must mow more often than once a month, which is all the time Honey has in the summer.

So, last week, before he left on his second trip of the summer, I asked Honey to teach me how to use our mower. It is easier than I thought to get it started. It is much more work than I thought to actually push it over the grass. I was imagining a vaccuum that you had to push with two hands. Needless to say, I was glad that I was only mowing a quarter of our back yard. It could turn in to being a good work out though.

I thought I would share a picture of my accomplishment. After all, it was my very first time to mow! That should go down in the history books!
