We've had a BUSY week! All kinds of parties, last minute shopping, and some cleaning. And a few loads of laundry I managed to sprinkle in throughout the week in preparation for our annual trek to the "motherland". That's what Honey calls it. It's where all the Lastnames were born and raised, and most still reside. We make it back once or twice a year, and, well, it's time. So it's been a little stressful here at the casa.
I don't really handle stress in the most graceful way. I pray about it. I guess it's my thorn in the flesh. Stress makes my stomach hurt. And so, about a month ago, when I decided to paint my own wrapping paper this holiday season, it was a great! idea! It was even fun the first one or two times I painted. This week? When I was painting? Not so much fun. It did, however, add a whole other aspect to the time in December I like to call the week before Christmas. So, I thought I would document this "great idea", in case I look back on these memories with fondness next year and am tempted to paint more wrapping paper.
Oh, future self, be cautious! Be very, very cautious!
Inside these boxes are piles and piles and rolls and scads of this sturdy brown packing paper.

I'm really sorry you're going insane but I LOVE the wrapping paper. Your gifts look amazing. I would be like you - they would ALL have to be the same (not some store-bought wrapping/some my wrapping). And I would be like you - cursing under my breath. BUT still - they look soooo cool!
They look great! I get those crazy ideas periodically, so I understand. Have a good trip to see the Lastnames!
Thanks again for your advice the other day.
I understand completely, friend. I would have TOTALLY ruined the gifts if the wrapping paper didn't coordinate!!
I like your crazy, cussing, stressed self.
P.S. I think it is about time for a photo of my friend Jen. Pretty please? It could be my Christmas present. I've searched some old posts and found ONE photo with your head to the side. (Enough to know you have dark hair. Darn you.) Come on now, girl! I need a face to put with the name and the heart of the person who has blessed me so much!
I finally used up all the left-overs, so this year my presents matched! But they were not nearly so cute as those! That is such a neat idea! Merry Christmas!
Aw, bless your heart! ROFL! I love that you persevered for the sake of unity. I dont have that gene...I might have even been tempted to just wrap the remaining gifts in the Wal-Mart/Target bags they came in with a few rounds of duct tape to keep it all together. Ok...I probably wouldnt...but I'd seriously consider it.
And it'd stress me out going to "The Land of Entrapment" too. Be sure to tell Honey I said that! LOL!
