S is for ...

...stitches
Wednesday I was subbing in 3rd grade when Mary TuTu's teacher walked calmly, but with purpose, into the classroom and said, "Get your purse, you're going to have to take Mary TuTu to the doctor. I'll find someone to cover this class."
OK.
She fell on the playground, and when I got to the nurse's office she had a sort of Braveheart look going.

After panicking just a little bit in the car, I took her to the Children's ER and she ended up with 3 stitches. Just three. Thank goodness.
The doctor said to return in 5 days and they would remove the stitches. I reminded him that Easter was in 4 days. And he sternly repeated, "Five days."
OK! I was just askin'.
We headed home and got the rest of her cleaned up and her clothes changed, and waited for Gran to pick up the other two kids and bring them home from school.
And then the crying began. She realized that since she left school early she missed Art. She'd been looking forward to making the Easter project.
Oh.
Gran saved the day by bringing sweet-tea-the-kind-that-comes-out-already-sweet from Sonic, and it took her mind off of Art for a while.
She insisted on going to church that night. She was determined not to miss anything else fun. And a little bit because she wanted to show everyone her war wounds.
And after that she was pretty much back to normal. She went to school the next day like nothing had happened. And when I picked her up after school she had all the stuff necessary to make the Art project she missed. Because the teachers at that school ROCK!
She looked precious in her Easter dress, even with the stitches. This morning (not a moment before five days later) we dropped the other two off at school and headed back to the ER to have the stitches removed. It took less than 5 minutes and she was back at school by 8:40.
And now that it's over, I can hardly remember what all the fuss and panicking was about. I'm sure it'll all come back to me once I see the hospital bill.

Bless her heart....so glad she's okay! And I must say, her eyes and coloring are such a beautiful combination...plus, she looks way cuter in those pink rollers than Mel does even with a movie make up artist!! :)

"Brave Heart" look...you crack me up! I think I have seen that face before around here! Once I went to get something at the convience store at the corner (ah, the good old days--sorry), and when I got back, SweetBoy met me in the garage with that on-a-mission look and said, "Dad needs your help." When I got in the door, I noticed the drops of blood from the back door to the kitchen and SweetHeart was holding a soaked rag on SweetDoll's head. She had pretty much calmed down, but that initial panic was definetly there on our part. Brother hit her with a stick and it was only about 1/2 an inch cut. Boy! Those head wounds can bleed!

I thought of you the other day when I was cleaning out our van and found Barbi limbs. I still laugh about your story of your girls' baby dolls that they took apart.

Hope you have a less eventful week!

I am beyond impressed at your ability to work in a Scotland reference. I also can't believe I missed seeing your kids in their Easter clothes! I was REALLY not paying attention on Sunday!
