Easter Post

Just stick some bunny ears on me and call me the Grinch. That's how I felt about Easter celebrations this year. Blah. We didn't buy new Easter clothes because a wintry mix was in the forecast. We have plenty of winter clothes. I am SO OVER winter.

I seriously considered telling my kids that the Easter bunny was a game we sometimes play each year. I just couldn't get myself all worked up over a ton of candy that we don't need and a bunch more stuff to organize and put away every night. The kids already have so much. I had a hard time finding anything that they didn't already have, that they've been wanting for a while, that would have made their eyes light up Easter morning when they realized the Easter Bunny had visited.

It was truly enough to make me so incredibly thankful that the Easter Bunny isn't the star of Easter. Hunting eggs isn't the point. Chocolate bunnies aren't the main event. Because whether the Easter Bunny visited or not, the fact still remains that "We believe that Jesus died and rose again . . . For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him." (I Thess. 4:14; 5:9-10)

I hear ya! It's just so hard when Easter is in March. We recycled last year's dresses, so we didnt get new clothes either.

Thank you for this!!! I'm with ya. I like Easter, it's fun. But we don't really need another chocholate filled holiday. I certainly don't anyways!!! I get much more out of knowing that Christ is alive!

Easter was too weird this year. Being so early, but combined in there with spring break - yeah, i don't think a lot of us were filling the easter "mood" traditionally. But yes, we always hold true to the real meaning and that never gets boring. maybe it will be more motivating when it is in april and we have nice weather to enjoy!

oh, yea! i am not "pimping" my girls. you know it drives all the local girls mad when a guy shows up to prom with an out-of-town date! i am simply volunteering. and, if they happen to hook up and get married - then that is just a coincidence......but one i would be happy with!

Thank you for your last comments. That is the true meaning of Christmas and while I don't mind getting dressed up, I hate that the focus of Easter unfortunately even for Christians is the bunny!
We don't do the EB at my house we save that for my in-laws. I don't make a big deal of it. I almost wrote/which I still might a blog about why every Christian holiday has a fairytale character to take Jesus' place! xoxo

Amen! It was a wierd Easter. The Easter bunny doesn't come to our house, but we hunt eggs at Mamaw's. Granny bought new clothes or we probably wouldn't have either. But it was cold and I tried to talk SweetDoll out of her sleeve-less dress. Nothing doing! She just found a purple sweater to go with it! Then SweetHeart was in a bad mood on the way to church. He finally snapped out of it. But it was great to praise the Father on His Son's Resurrection Day--wierdness and all!
